The lecture introduced and commented on the psychological theories of hope and presented main findings of own research related to the exploration of the psychosocial correlates and predictors of hope among Czech populations. The role of hope was also discussed in the context of physical and mental health, depression and posttraumatic changes. The final part of the lecture briefly addressed the hope-enhancing strategies and interventions used in counselling, psychotherapy, and education.
