A review of an edited volume devoted to the re-evalution of the collection of visual poetry surviving under the name of Publilius Optatianus Porfyrius. The book under review offers complex and interdisciplinary insight into Optatian’s extraordinary poetics in the context of the radical cultural transformation that late-antique society experienced under the reign of Emperor Constantine.
