Anotace

V originále

The adventure of the early Jesuits in China has been devoted to a crosscultural exchange with Confucianism. Matteo Ricci, one of the most successful pioneer Jesuits, did not sympathize with Daoism looking with favor at Confucians as more ‘erudite’ and respectful discussants. This paper aims to accentuate the role of Time and time-keeping in the Jesuit mission suggesting, as a hypothesis, how this has been accommodated by Ricci to Confucianism rejecting Daoism.
