In dieser umfangreichen Studie werden die Teilergebnisse einer großen archäologischen Untersuchung eines zentralen großmährischen Gräberfeldes ausgewertet, das sich im Vorfeld des Burgwalls des Hl.Hypolitus befunden hat. Hier wurden bisher 602 Gräbereinheiten entdeckt. Die Studie befasst sich insgesamt mit 19 Kriegergräbern, die mit Waffen, Sporen und Schwerten ausgestattet waren ( eins davon war ein Doppelgrab ). Vier der vorgestellten Gräber stammen aus dem zweiten großmährischen Gräberfeld bei der Kirche Nr.II in der Mitte der inneren Burg. Da wurden sie auf einem kleinen und letzten freien Gelände, begrenzt von Gebäuden, erfasst und untersucht. Ein weiteres Grab wurde im Siedlungsumfeld des Burgwalls gefunden und die letzten zwei Bestattungen von Adligen mit einem Schwert ( Dobšice und Hodonice ) kommen aus dem nahen Hinterland des großmährischen Zentrums.

Obsáhlá studie přináší vyhodnocení dílčí části výsledků velkého archeologického výzkumu centrálního velkomoravského pohřebiště, situovaného do předpolí hradiště sv. Hypolita ve Znojmě. Zde jsme dosud prozkoumali 602 hrobových celků. Studie věnuje pozornost celkem 19 bojovnickým hrobům se zbraněmi, ostruhami a meči (jeden dvojhrob). Čtyři z představených hrobů pocházejí také z druhého velkomoravského pohřebiště u kostela č. II v centru vnitřního hradu, na němž byly zachyceny a prošetřeny v malém a jediném volném prostoru, ohraničeném stavbami. Další hrob byl objeven v sídlištním prostředí hradiště a poslední dva velmožské pohřby s mečem (Dobšice a Hodonice) pocházejí z blízkého zázemí velkomoravského centra.

This study presents the first (and completely new) information about the total of nineteen assemblages of warriors´ graves so far researched at the Great Moravian hillfort of S. Hippolytus in Znojmo and also in the hinterland of this power centre. This paper is based on an analysis of four graves from a small piece of a preserved burial site near Church II in the centre of the inner castle, a grave of an eight-year-old boy with spurs from the settled area of the castle and then eleven important graves from the recently discovered and continuously researched central burial site situated in the nearby western neighbourhood of Hradiště. So far we have excavated and researched only the northern edge of the necropolis, where over 400 (yet over 600) inhumations have been researched in partnership with a number of experts (over 100 samples were taken for DNA analysis). To the assembly of complete graves of warriors we added two old -somewhat difficult - damaged finds of noblemen´s graves with swords from the base of the Znojmo hillfort - from Dobšice and Hodonice, and also a new discovery, the grave of a horseman from Tvořihráz. The study presents all the finds that have been turned up so far, and attempts at a general evaluation. The results only confirm the exceptionality of this rather overlooked site - the St. Hippolytus hillfort and its crucial importance for the system of Great Moravia, among other things.
