Výstava prezentovala díla Martina Mainera a Samuela Pauča převážně z posledních dvou let. Malíře odlišných generací spojuje nejen jejich vztah profesora a učitele, resp. profesora a asistenta, ale především jejich spontánní přístup k malířství a výrazný expresivní projev. Oba umělci pracují s atributy tradičního média obrazu a s prolínáním iluzivních a metailuzivních prvků a fragmentů různých sémantických vrstev, světa vizuálního, malířského, předmětného i jazykového, které otevírají nové prostory imaginace. Zatímco Mainerovy malby souvisí s jeho duchovní a meditativní cestou, přístup Samuela Pauča je oproti tomu mnohem divočejší a prolínání malířských vrstev u něj často evokuje krajinu po nějaké katastrofě. Oba umělce však zajímají především otázky podstaty malířství, toho, co dělá obraz obrazem, co je malba, jak vzniká obrazový prostor a jaká může být v obrazu role rámu.

The exhibition presented works by Martin Mainer and Samuel Pauč, mostly from the last two years. The painters of different generations are united not only by their relationship of professor and teacher, or professor and assistant, but above all by their spontaneous approach to painting and their strong expressive expression. Both artists work with the attributes of the traditional medium of painting and with the blending of illusory and meta-illusive elements and fragments of different semantic layers, the world of the visual, the pictorial, the subject and the linguistic, which open up new spaces of imagination. While Mainer's paintings are related to his spiritual and meditative path, Samuel Pauč's approach is, by contrast, much wilder, and his blending of painterly layers often evokes the landscape after a catastrophe. Both artists, however, are primarily interested in questions of the nature of painting, what makes a painting a painting, what painting is, how pictorial space is created and what the role of the frame can be in a painting.
