Anotace
V originále
The contribution focuses on the issue of effects arising from tertiary education. It discusses the benefits of tertiary education both as tools for the development of skills and personal development, but also to develop ideas of democracy, freedom, or critical thinking. The social benefits of tertiary education are complemented by the development of access to tertiary education in connection with the conditions of access and the effects of tertiary education and in connection with the massification of tertiary education. The main part of the paper is devoted to clarifying the economic effects of tertiary education using the concept of opportunity costs. The values of economic return on tertiary education in EU countries are given. These economic approaches are complemented by an analysis of other factors influencing the economic evaluation of the effects of tertiary education.
