This opening statement precedes the fourth round of Global Fandom Jamboree Conversations organized by professor Henry Jenkins. Young fan studies scholars from all over the world get together (thanks to professor Jenkins) and discuss the topics of global and local fandoms and their meaning in today's world (and of course, fan studies research). In the fourth round of these conversations I meet with Singaporean researcher Hattie Liew and we discuss our national perspectives in the context of their similarities and differences.
