Anotace

Os inícios do trabalho literário de Augusto Abelaira (1926-2003) inscrevem-se no âmbito das novas tendências na narrativa portuguesa dos anos 60 do século XX, vinculadas à influência do experimentalismo e de nouveau roman. Além disso, a grande quantidade de vários recursos (des)construcionistas, citacionais e intertextuais, bem como o uso de motivos recorrentes em variações, correspondem à estética do pós-modernismo, invocada em relação à obra de Abelaira, em geral, a partir da publicação de Bolor (1968). Nas prosas de Augusto Abelaira, o uso destes recursos aponta para os vários níveis de significados que desnudam as fragilidades de seres humanos, a sua permanente busca da plenitude e a angústia ao enfrentarem um mundo esvaziado pelo hábito. É também por isso que as prosas abelairianas revelam, em geral, um quotidiano vivido em surdina, sem grandes acontecimentos, assombrado pela rotina, repetições de gestos, palavras e significados. A presente comunicação pretende, portanto, dar voz a algumas destas assombrações abelairianas, destacando, nesta perspetiva, os laços existentes entre o romance Bolor e o conto “Quatro paredes nuas” (Quatro paredes nuas, 1972), textos ligados, entre outros aspetos, pela figura feminina com o mesmo nome, Maria dos Remédios.

The early literary work of Augusto Abelaira (1926-2003) falls within the scope of the new trends in Portuguese narrative of the 1960s, linked to the influence of experimentalism and nouveau roman. Moreover, the large amount of several (dis)constructionist, quotational and intertextual resources, as well as the use of recurring motifs in variations, correspond to the aesthetics of postmodernism, invoked in relation to Abelaira's work, in general, from the publication of Bolor (1968). In Augusto Abelaira's prose, the use of these resources points to the various levels of meaning that lay bare the fragilities of human beings, their permanent search for plenitude and their anguish when facing a world emptied by habit. This is also why Abelaira's prose generally reveals a daily life lived in silence, without major events, haunted by routine, repetitions of gestures, words and meanings. This paper intends, therefore, to give voice to some of these Abelairian hauntings, highlighting, from this perspective, the ties between the novel Bolor and the short story "Quatro paredes nuas" (Four bare walls, 1972), texts connected, among other things, by the female figure with the same name, Maria dos Remédios.
