This contribution examines the influence of immigration policy on the South Moravian Region and city of Brno. Immigration policy is considered a set of interests of various parties, such as employers, citizens and political parties, non-profit organizations, or universities. Employers' interests were examined through questionnaires and complemented by data from an employment survey in the South Moravian Region. Citizens' attitudes towards immigration have been identified from opinion polls and electoral results – it is expected that support for antiimmigrant political parties will increase with the deterioration of immigration attitudes. Various organizations that were established by the South Moravian region, play a key role in managed immigration. All findings regarding different parties were supported by qualitative interviews with immigrants. A key benefit for the South Moravian Region is the gain of a significant number of talented and highly qualified foreigners. The main problem is not immigration policy itself but its poor implementation by institutions that are in direct contact with foreigners. Although the South Moravian Region is officially trying to attract and retain foreign experts and talented students and scientists, these immigrants often face many obstacles in their professional and personal life. This disagreement in planning and real acting poses a non-negligible risk to the region, and it can affect its development and competitiveness.

Tento příspěvek se zabývá vlivem imigrační politiky na Jihomoravský kraj a město Brno. Imigrační politika je považována za soubor zájmů různých stran, jako jsou zaměstnavatelé, občané a politické strany, neziskové organizace nebo vysoké školy. Zájmy zaměstnavatelů byly zkoumány prostřednictvím dotazníků a doplněny údaji z průzkumu zaměstnanosti v Jihomoravském kraji. Postoje občanů k imigraci byly zjišťovány na základě průzkumů veřejného mínění a volebních výsledků - očekává se, že se zhoršením postojů k imigraci vzroste podpora protiimigračních politických stran. Klíčovou roli v řízené imigraci hrají různé organizace, které zřídil Jihomoravský kraj. Všechna zjištění týkající se různých stran byla podpořena kvalitativními rozhovory s imigranty. Klíčovým přínosem pro Jihomoravský kraj je zisk značného počtu talentovaných a vysoce kvalifikovaných cizinců. Hlavním problémem není samotná imigrační politika, ale její špatná realizace ze strany institucí, které jsou v přímém kontaktu s cizinci. Přestože Jihomoravský kraj se oficiálně snaží přilákat a udržet zahraniční odborníky a talentované studenty a vědce, tito imigranti se často potýkají s mnoha překážkami v profesním i osobním životě. Tento nesoulad v plánování a reálném jednání představuje pro kraj nezanedbatelné riziko a může ovlivnit jeho rozvoj a konkurenceschopnost.
