This study explores the literary canon as a complex cultural artifact that reflects the values and attitudes of a civilization. It acknowledges the influence of media and broader cultural context on its development. The study emphasizes the connection between the national literary canon and the history of each creative form. However, it also recognizes that examining canonicity within one area may not always yield fruitful results. To understand the cultural significance and historical context of canonical works, an interdisciplinary approach is necessary.
