Anotace
V originále
Czechia and Slovakia used to be one country; they share the same cultural context and their educational systems developed together. Within the past years, there have been significant developments in the field of academic integrity in both countries – efforts in plagiarism detection, plagiarism prevention, and several projects on research integrity. This chapter summarizes recent projects, scientific publications, and several academic misconduct scandals. We present Czech and Slovak results of the International Contract Cheating Project (iCOP). We also conducted a qualitative survey by performing structured interviews with five senior academics involved in academic integrity bodies. The results of our research show that the overall awareness of ethical issues and related public debate has risen in the past decade. Despite the successful projects in the field of academic integrity, the community still suffers from systemic problems like the “publish or perish” culture or lack of ethics education.
