Anotace

Dieser Artikel leistet einen kulturanthropologischen Beitrag zur Bedeutung des Essens als Kulturgut Tibets in der Schweiz mit Fokus auf das sogenannte «tibetische Nationalgericht» der Momo, gefüllten Teigtaschen. Anhand kulturwissenschaftlicher und-historischer Konzepte wird die Bedeutung der Momo in Tibet sowie in der Diaspora basierend auf historischen Reiseberichten, modernen Kochbüchern und Erzählungen der vorwiegend älteren in der Schweiz lebenden Generation von TibeterInnen beschrieben. Weiter wird auf die Präsenz von Momo in der Schweizer Gastronomielandschaft sowie auf die Gründe für deren Erfolgsgeschichte in der Schweiz eingegangen.

This article makes a cultural anthropological contribution to the significance of food as a Tibetan cultural asset in Switzerland with a focus on the so-called "Tibetan national dish" of momo, stuffed dumplings. Using cultural and historical concepts, the significance of momo in Tibet and in the diaspora is described based on historical travelogues, modern cookbooks and stories from the predominantly older generation of Tibetans living in Switzerland. The presence of Momo in the Swiss catering landscape and the reasons for its success story in Switzerland will also be discussed.
