| Karel Werner (1925-2019) byl předním českým indologem se specializací na buddhismus. Byl také religionistou a jeho role při zakládání Ústavu religionostiky FF MU na počátku devadesátých let 20. století byla zásadní. Jeho život nebyl jednoduchý, od roku 1968 byl ve Velké Británii v emigraci, kde působil na univerzitách v Durhamu a Londýně. Jeho dílo představuje nepřehlédnutelé množství článků a knih, které byly originální v mnoha směrech. Publikoval jak anglicky, tak i česky. |

| Karel Werner (1925-2019) was a leading Czech Indologist specializing in Buddhism. He was also a scholar in the field Study of Religions and his role in the founding of the Institute of the Study of Religions at the Faculty of Arts of MU in the early 1990s was crucial. His life was not an easy one; he was in exile in the UK from 1968, where he worked at the universities of Durham and London. His work represents an unmissable sheath of articles and books that were original in many ways. He published in both English and Czech. |
