Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird Thomas Sautners Roman Das Mädchen an der Grenze (2017) mit Blick auf das Motiv der Grenze in seiner Komplexität untersucht. In diesem literarischen Text ist nicht nur die Darstellung der topografischen Grenze und ihrer Überschreitung wichtig, sondern auch die allmähliche Auflösung von Grenzen in der psychischen Wahrnehmung der Hauptfigur. Diese weist Symptome auf, die als eine symbolische Somatisierung der politischen Umbrüche interpretiert werden können. Die Analyse zeigt, dass Sautners Roman gemeinsame Merkmale mit der border literature aufweist.

This article examines Thomas Sautner's novel Das Mädchen an der Grenze (2017) with regard to the motif of the border¨in all its complexity. In this literary text, not only the representation of the topographical border and its crossing is important, but also the gradual dissolution of borders in the psychological perception of the main character. This shows symptoms that can be interpreted as a symbolic somatization of the political upheavals. The analysis shows that Sautner's novel has common features with border literature.
