Dans le contexte de la culture médiatique française, le roman policier a évolué en tant que genre représentant les excès de la société urbaine moderne, apparue à la suite de la révolution industrielle au XIXᵉ siècle. Dès ses débuts, le roman policier français a volontairement intégré des éléments de critique sociale dans ses récits, où l’espace urbain joue un rôle central. Depuis les années 1970, les auteurs y ont ajouté des critiques du système politique. Le terme « roman noir » a été inventé aux États-Unis et, à ce jour, il est connu dans le monde entier sous cette appellation. Le roman policier/noir français hérite une partie de son caractère du roman feuilleton. Après une brève introduction à ce dernier, cette analyse examine l’évolution de l’image de Paris urbain et suburbain à travers six romans publiés entre les années 1970 et 2000.

V kontextu francouzské mediální kultury se detektivní román vyvinul jako žánr zobrazující nešvary moderní městské společnosti, která vznikla v důsledku průmyslové revoluce v 19. století. Od svého počátku francouzský detektivní román ochotně začleňoval prvky společenské kritiky do svých vyprávění, kde městský prostor hraje klíčovou roli. Od 70. let 20. století autoři přidávají do svých příběhů také kritiku politického systému. Termín „roman noir“ byl vytvořen ve Spojených státech a dodnes je po celém světě znám pod tímto názvem. Francouzský detektivní/noir román částečně čerpá svůj charakter z románu na pokračování. Po stručném úvodu do tohoto žánru se analýza zaměřuje na vývoj obrazu městské a příměstské Paříže na základě šesti románů vydaných mezi 70. léty 20. století a začátkem 21. století.

In the context of French media culture, the detective novel has evolved as a genre depicting the excesses of modern urban society that emerged as a consequence of the industrial revolution in the 19th century. From its inception, the French detective novel has willingly incorporated elements of social critique into its narratives, where the urban space plays a pivotal role. Since the 1970s, authors have added critiques of the political system to their stories. The term ‘noir novel ’was coined in the United States and, as such, it is known across the world to this day. The French detective/noir novel inherits part of its character from the serialised novel. Following a brief introduction to the latter, this analysis examines the evolution of the image of urban and suburban Paris based on six novels published between the 1970s and 2000s.
