Kniha velmi přitažlivou formou představuje genetiku – jeden z nejdynamičtějších a nejatraktivnějších vědních oborů současnosti. Prezentuje základní principy dědičnosti, vztah genů a prostředí, vliv dědičnosti na nemoci a chování, také popisuje praktické využití poznatků genetiky v medicíně a farmacii nebo v archeologii a kriminalistice včetně identifikace osob. Snaží se odpovědět na otázku, co nám přinesou nové možnosti genetiky a výzkumu DNA a nastiňuje možnosti i hranice genetiky do budoucna. Téměř polovinu rozsahu knihy tvoří krásné ilustrace, fotografie a schémata, která významně pomáhají pochopení výkladu. Do textu jsou také vhodně vloženy barevné informační tabule rozebírající dané téma do větší hloubky.

The book presents genetics in a very attractive way – one of the most dynamic and attractive fields of science today. It presents the basic principles of heredity, the relationship between genes and the environment, the influence of heredity on diseases and behavior, and also describes the practical use of genetics in medicine and pharmacy or in archeology and criminology, including the identification of persons. It tries to answer the question of what the new possibilities of genetics and DNA research will bring us and outlines the possibilities and limits of genetics for the future. Almost half of the scope of the book is made up of beautiful illustrations, photographs and diagrams that significantly help the understanding of the interpretation. Colored information boards discussing the given topic in greater depth are also suitably inserted into the text.
