The paper examines Marat Icones, a heterogeneous Baroque sketchbook associated with the Premonstratensian painter and author of iconographic concepts Dionysius Strauss (1660–1720). The album brings together drawings by multiple hands, Strauss’s own iconographic concepts and notes, as well as later-added prints, and includes designs by Johann Georg Etgens for frescoes in Rajhrad. Its complex composition raises questions about workshop practice, the use of visual models, and the relationship between preparatory drawings and their final execution.
