We presents an innovative use of generative artificial intelligence for evaluating the preparation of project-based teaching by students studying to become teachers of vocational subjects. Using a system prompt based on the Gold Standard PBL criteria (Larmer, Mergendoller & Boss, 2015), AI analyses the quality of projects in terms of challenge, authenticity, student voice, reflection, revision, and public output, focusing on the development of critical thinking and problem solving. The evaluation includes comments on each criterion, identification of strengths and weaknesses, and provides students with constructive feedback. The aim is to support the development of key competencies of future teachers and their ability to design meaningful and effective project-based teaching. The paper discusses the pedagogical benefits, limitations, and ethical aspects of this approach.
