Anotace
V originále
The Mongols living in the Ili region, especially in the Tekes and Nilka river basins, have had a considerable tradition since the time of the Zunghar Khanate of copying and reciting mostly canonical Buddhist texts written in the so-called Clear script (todo bičiq), i.e. the West Mongolian literary archaic variant of Classical Mongolian, which was once the official script of the Zunghar and Kalmyk Khanates and the official script of local-level official communication in the Qing period. Despite the huge number of locally produced manuscripts, no example of contemporary local Mongolian-written memoirs relating to the 19th century is known to date. In this context, the historical oral tradition narrated among the Ööled Mongols of the region represents the only emic source on the Mongolian fates during the Ili valley uprisings, Sultanate, and occupation. In 1980s to early 2000s, local Mongolian researchers have done considerable work collecting local oral tradition and presented some of the narratives in locally published Mongolian-written publications which provide us with insight into an otherwise rather inaccessible and undoubtedly rapidly disappearing oral tradition. This paper introduces the local Mongolian oral tradition related to the Ili uprising as recorded in these locally published sources.
