Law students at Masaryk University, are increasingly aware of the need to master well both legal communication as well as some soft skills, some of which are incorporated in their syllabus. Based on our previous quantitative and qualitative research among in big private companies and state institutions as well as students at Masaryk University we recognized a big gap in the skills required from the university graduates by their first time employers and students´ expectations. This led us to the development of specialized soft skills courses in foreign languages. As a result of these experiments we incorporated some of them into our standard syllabus (presentations, negotiations, argumentation and solving conflicts, team work, time management, interviewing etc.) In some groups we worked in a virtual international classroom both synchronically and asynchonchronically and the presentation will mention some of the challenges during videoconferencing and podcasting in a virtual international classroom. Our experience so far indicates that there are still some discrepancies between students´ high command of English and their inadequate reactions, inability to react rationally under stress and find suitable solutions. Examples from videoconferencing between law students in Helsinki and Brno and podcasts project (Brno-Toruń) will be used.

Studenti Právnické fakulty na Masarykově univerzitě si jsou vice a vice vědomi toho, že potřebují dobře zvládnout jak komunikaci týkající se jejich oboru tak měkké manažerské dovednosti, jež jsou již nyní zabudovány do sylabu jejich studia. Na základě našeho kvalitativního a kvantitativního výzkumu mezi velkými soukromými společnostmi I státními institucemi a také na základě dotazníkového šetření mezi studenty Masarykovy univerzity jsme zjistili, že existuje poměrně velká propast mezi dovednostmi, které vyžadují první zaměstnavatelé od našich absolventů. Tyto výsledky nás přivedly k tomu, že jsme vytvořili specializované kurzy měkkých manažerských dovedností v cizích jazycích. Na základě tohoto experimentu, který jsme třikrát opakovali, jsme začlenili nácvik některých těchto dovedností do našeho běžného sylabu výuky cizího jazyka (prezentace, vyjednávání, argumentace a řešení konfliktů, týmová spolupráce, time management, interviewing apod.) V některých skupinách jsme pracovali ve virtuální mezinárodní třídě jak synchronicky tak asynchronicky a v prezentaci bude zmíněno, jakým výzvám bylo třeba čelit během videokonferenčních hodin a při přípravě podcastů ve virtuální mezinárodní třídě. Naše dosavadní zkušenost naznačuje, že stále existují rozdíly ve vysoké jazykové úrovni studentů , jejichž angličtina je na úrovni C1-C2 Evropského referenčního rámce a jejich neadekvátních reakcí, či jejich neschopnosti zareagovat dobře, pokud jsou vystaveni stresu a nejsou tak schopni najít vhodné řešení. V příspěvku budou použity příklady z videokonferencí mezi studenty práv v Helsinkách a v Brně a z podcastového projektu mezi studenty v Brně a polské Toruni.
