This response addresses comments on a pilot study investigating systemic and local myokine dynamics in critically ill burn patients. The authors acknowledge the influence of nutritional, pharmacological, and rehabilitation-related factors while emphasizing the study’s feasibility-focused design and its role in identifying biologically relevant myokine changes. The findings are presented as a foundation for hypothesis generation and future, more controlled research in this vulnerable population.
