Combined oral contraceptives are widely used by young women, yet their impact on cardiovascular regulation remains insufficiently understood. Our pilot study examined the effects of combined oral contraceptives (COC) on blood pressure and hormonal profiles in 35 healthy women aged 18–22 years. Participants were assigned to a COC group (n=18) and a control group (n=17), with measurements taken during the follicular and luteal phases. Blood samples were analyzed for sex hormones and cortisol, and 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring was performed. COC users showed consistently higher systolic and diastolic blood pressure across daytime, nighttime, and 24-hour periods. Significant differences were also observed in hormonal profiles. These findings suggest that COC use may alter baseline cardiovascular function in young women.
