La présentation a ouvert sur la description, accompagnée de la projection d'images (mises à disposition par l'autrice), de l'œuvre « The Cleaning of emotional data » (2020) de l'artiste italienne Elisa Giardina Papa. Les aspects politiques des pratiques de Groundtruthing (Malevé 2022, Goriunova 2025) ont été mis en évidence à l'intersection des matrices de genre, de classe, d'ethnie et de validisme. Le calcul statistique des plateformes d'exploitation du travail cognitif-affectif pour l'entraînement des "machines de vision" a été présenté comme reflétant les logiques de calcul de risques et des opportunités propres aux diagrammes de fonctionnement du machine learning. Le cours a ensuite abordé la question du rapport entre la vision machinique et la computation affective. La première partie a été consacrée à l'histoire de la vision industrielle, tandis que la seconde a exploré les présupposés culturels qui ont déterminé l'émergence de l'informatique affective à partir des problèmes liés à la vision numérique, en particulier aux textures visuelles. Le cours a ainsi problématisé les catégorisations, au niveau politique et social, de l'informatique affective et leur incorporation dans l’orchestration statistique de la réalité, qui relève de la vision machinique. La leçon a eu lieu suite à l'invitation cordiale de la professeure Larisa Driansky, historienne de l'art moderne et contemporain qui tient le séminaire Techniques et sentiments à la Sorbonne ; les sujets ont donc été abordés en dialogue avec elle.

The presentation opened with a description, accompanied by the projection of images (provided by the author), of the work "The Cleaning of emotional data" (2020) by the Italian artist Elisa Giardina Papa. The political aspects of Groundtruthing practices (Malevé 2022, Goriunova 2025) were highlighted at the intersection of gender, class, ethnicity, and ableism matrices. The statistical calculation of platforms that exploit cognitive-affective labor for training "vision machines" was presented as reflecting the risk-and-opportunity calculation logics inherent to the operational diagrams of machine learning. The lecture addressed the relationship between machine vision and affective computing. The first part focused on the history of computer vision, while the second explored the cultural assumptions that determined the emergence of affective computing from issues related to machine vision, particularly visual textures. The lecture thus problematized, at the political and social levels, the categorizations of affective computing and their incorporation into the statistical orchestration of reality of machine vision. The lecture took place following the kind invitation of Professor Larisa Driansky, a historian of modern and contemporary art who leads the seminar Techniques and Feelings at the Sorbonne.
