1. The study tests whether Czech double-licensed NPIs correlate with downward inference facilitation, challenging the standard DI-NPI link hypothesis. 2. Two acceptability-judgment experiments (57–70 participants) evaluated NPI licensing (baseline, DOUBT-NEG, NEG-DOUBT) and inference reasoning (doubt/¬doubt × DE/UE). 3. Results show strong upward inference preferences across environments and no reliable licensing-inference correlation, supporting scope/domain-centered approaches (Szabolcsi et al., 2008; Barker, 2018).
