N2 - The classical secondary analysis of published results from polls aims to analyse attitudes toward NATO in the Czech population. The division line dividing support and resistance to the admittance to the NATO goes straight between left and right wing oriented persons. This distinguishes the Czech Republic from Poland, where the support to their country admission to the NATO comes also from a substantial part of left wing oriented persons. Those who are against the membership of the Czech republic are not only persons with leftist orientation but also national-ists (opposite to Slovak Republic and Hungry the clear nationalistic ar-gumentation is reduced to a marginal populist republican party - but the communist rhetoric mixes up with nationalistic one, too). Discriminative analysis of public opinion research data aimed to identify how answers to questions about consequences of the NATO admission can sort people (who s attitude towards the NATO is not known to us) into groups of supporters and opponents of the NATO membership for the Czech Republic.
