U-Pb dating of monazite and Ar-Ar dating of muscovite of Kadan orthogneisses result in a high cooling rate. This is consistent with a rapid tectonic movements, resulting in the juxtaposition of upper crustal rocks of the Tepla-Barrandian unit against lower crustal rocks of the Erzgebirge crystalline complex.
