Since precipitation measurements are still mostly provided in individual stations - points - methods of interpolation are very important in the process mentioned above. In case of extremely high precipitation totals spatial estimates are further complicated by local physical conditions - e.g. orography. In the presented paper methods of spatial interpolation of two variables describing extreme precipitation regime on the territory of Moravia and Silesia over the period 1961 - 2000 are discussed. Overview of the most frequently used interpolation methods is given. Problems of spatial continuity of high precipitation totals are also outlined. Results of interpolation methods based on kriging and local regression are presented. Further, interpolated maps for above mentioned variables of extreme precipitation regime are given. ER -
