Abstract
The elite-driven explanation on the transformation of the (post)communist parties in the Central Europe is generally shared in political science community. In the case of the Polish postcommunist successor parties this model seems to be exceptionally appropriate. The relations among mere seven persons can explain political history of the postcommunist bloc after 1989. The crucial role of this group was a result of their special resources: political experience dating back from the communist past and the exploitation of the institutional position after 1989. This survival strategy seems to have exhausted in 2005.
