The concept of JCE legally establishes a different mode of commission of crimes under international law and constitutes an important theory of incurring individual responsibility used in contemporary international criminal law. The use of this concept is not limited only to the context of war crimes and crimes against humanity. In the recent years, attempts to deal more effectively with organised crime and terrorist activity other than the use of offences of membership have been made. The model may therefore be seen as one of increasing contemporary significance. ER -
