We studied also mutants that have reduced amount of protein subunits that form the light harvesting complexes of photosystem II (lhc2-1) and lacking practically all of them (lhc2-12). The main objective of our study was to quantify plant response, primary photosynthetic processes in particular, to high light doses.The results indicate that reduced amount of light harvesting complexes may alter zeaxantin formation while amount of other photoprotective and antioxidative compounds may be unaffected.
