Abstract |
---|
High Mobility Group (HMG) proteins type B bind local DNA structures, promote DNA bending and interact with factors of the transcription, repair and recombination machineries. Arabidopsis thaliana genome encodes 7 HMGB proteins which differ in structure, expression pattern and DNA-binding properties. We observe that HMGB1 takes part in telomere maintenance. Plants lacking HMGB1 display telomere shortening and, consistently, overexpression of HMGB1 leads to telomere elongation. |

High Mobility Group (HMG) proteiny typu B se váží na lokální DNA struktury, podporují ohyb DNA a interagují s proteiny zahrnutými do transkripční, reparační či rekombinační dráhy. Genom A. thaliana kóduje 7HMGB proteinů, které se liší ve struktuře, expresiním vzorci a vazbě na DNA. V naší práci jsme pozorovali, že HMGB1 protein se podílí na údržbě telomerických konců. Rosliny postrádající HMGB1 protein vykazují zkracování telomer; overexprese HMGB1 vede k prodlužování telomer. |
