Given the well known antimicrobial properties of gold and silver, we focused our research on the development of chemical groups on the PP surface with direct influence on the attachment of gold nanoparticles and silver ions. Wettability tests were performed in order to characterize the textile surface after plasma treatment. Also Laser Desorption Ionization Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry and Atomic Absorption Spectrometry measurements revealed more detailed information on the attachment of nanogold particles and silver ions bonding on the treated material.
