The phase composition of the mixed metal oxides can be controlled by the starting stoichiometry of the precursor complexes. Sonolysis of mixtures of Fe(acac)3 and Y(acac)3(H2O)3 led to amorphous Y-Fe-O nanopowders. The thermally induced crystallization was studied by TG/DSC, evolved gas analysis (EGA), high-temperature XRD, and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Depending on the Y/Fe starting stoichiometric ratio, the single phase perovskite YFeO3 (YIP) or garnet Y3Fe5O12 (YIG) can be synthesized. ER -
