V originále
At the end of the last century, the Czech Republic was a country with a deep-rooted tradition of working pensioners. Only twenty years later, people in theirs fifties and sixties are on the margins of the labour market. And this has occurred at the time of rapid population ageing and at the time when the Czech government, is trying to keep people in the labour market to an older age. Despite the active employment policy, older workers have been using various ways of leaving the labour market untimely. However, their willingness to stay at work is a crucial factor for the increase of employment rate. I intend to find the answer to the question of the older workers’ willingness to stay active to an older age, with the use of the tree waves of the European Value Study. I am going to concentrate on the value of work in the lives of older workers as well as on the various aspects and reasons which could motivate them to stay economically active longer. According to the data from the years 1991, 1999 and 2008, the changes in the attitude of older working people illustrate the development of the whole Czech labour market since the 1989.
