The basic information source for scientific work is mainly the literature. During the studies of professional literature on combatives in the Czech Republic there has appeared a need for an overall bibliographic search as well as borrowing or permanent acquisition of the documents for studies. Some documents were not present in the libraries databases, we learned about them from the secondary citations from other texts. In the period from 1873 to 2009 there were a large number of scientific documents on combatives and self-defence published on the Czech territory. The total review of the literature is listed in bibliography and together with a description of particular titles gives the foreign professionals a systematic review and easy orientation in Czech professional literature on combatives.
