Anotace

Les personnages principaux des romans de Jean Échenoz semblent tous en train de résoudre toute une série de problemes qu’il serait possible de qualifier existentiels : que ce soit le départ ou la disparition de la compagne, la faillite de la raison sociale ou la perte de l’emploi, la santé défaillante ou intelligence insuffisante, ils sont tous confrontés a des ennuis auxquels ils font face sans vraiment paraître trop frappés par la catastrophe. Dans la plupart des cas, ils trouvent une combine qui leur permet de vivre au sein du dédale de la civilisation occidentale hypermoderne sans pour autant échapper au mouvement pulsionnel de cette derniere. Je propose d’observer la maniere dont Jean Échenoz interroge, par le biais de ses protagonistes, ce rapport ambivalent entre le sujet contemporain et son etre au monde dont il est issu. Dans un autre temps, il serait également intéressant de s’interroger sur le rapport qu’entretiennent ces « etres de papier » avec l’instance lectoriale, c'est-a-dire l’etre réel issu également de ce monde-ci et qui les percoit via leurs actes romanesques. De ce point de vue, on pourrait placer la majorité des protagonistes échenoziens provisoirement dans l’espace qui s’étend entre les deux extrémités du clivage héros - antihéros, vu l’ambiguité des deux catégories suite aux changements de perception des valeurs traditionnelles propres a l’homme qu’ont entraîné les temps qui succedent a la modernité « classique », que l’on pourrait désigner provisoirement comme temps postmodernes.

The main characters in the novels of Jean Echenoz all appear as they solve a series of problems that could be described as existential: either the departure or demise of the company, the bankruptcy of the company name or loss of employment, poor health or lack of intelligence, they are all confronted with problems they face without really seem too affected by the disaster. In most cases, they find a combination that allows them to live within the maze of hyper-modern Western civilization without escaping the impulsive motion of the latter. I propose to see how Jean Echenoz asked, through his protagonists, the ambivalent relationship between the contemporary subject and being in the world which it is derived. In another time it would be interesting to examine the relationship between these "people paper" with the “instance lectoriale” is to say, also from the real being of this world and receiving them through their actions fiction. From this point of view, we could place the majority of Echenoz' characters temporary space that extends between both ends of the split hero - antihero, given the ambiguity of the two categories due to changes in perception of traditional values to What man led the times which follow the modern "classical" might be temporarily designated as postmodernism.
