TY - CONF ID - 991961 AU - Veverková, Lenka - Kalač, Jan - Jedlička, Václav - Vlček, Petr - Čapov, Ivan PY - 2012 TI - ANALYSIS OF THE VARIOUS PROCEDURES USED IN GREAT SAPHENOUS VEIN SURGERY AND BENEFIT OF DAFLON 500 MG TO POSTOPERATIVE SYMPTOMS KW - varicose vein KW - stripping laser KW - RFA N2 - Treatment methods for varices on the lower leg using endovenose thermal ablation are widely known. Multicentric international studies have already proven that the results of these treatments are comparable with classic stripping. In contrast with the stripping, ablation is noted for lower numbers of complications and, if duly performed, is also safer. Despite excellent postoperative results of stripping surgery and very low complication rates, morbidity due to hematoma in the thigh and postoperative pain and edema are reported. The anti-inflammatory effect of Daflon 500 mg has been demonstrated in a number of studies. In the Czech Republic a Perristriping study aimed to assess the pharmacological benefit for patients who received Daflon,.data were collected about surgeries on varices, and they were analyzed in relation to post-surgery pain and haematoma. Another study LACORFA has similar aims as the Peristripping protocol and is currently in progress. Results: The comparison of post-GSV stripping complications in Daflon 500mg-treated and untreated patients. Significant difference in the consumption of analgesics between the two groups was recorded after just 4 days following the surgery. By the end of the study, the quality of life of those in the Daflon 500-treated group improved for 21% as opposed to only 3% of Daflon 500-untreated ones. CVI symptoms were alleviated only due to the Daflon treatment. Daflon-treated group showed a significant improvement in time for all symptoms. Conclusion: The peristripping study has clinically confirmed the benefit of a quality venotonic agent in patients after the surgery for varices. The findings of the Lacorfa study will be completed next year. Thus far we can confirm the benefits of using 2 tablets of Daflon 500 mg 14 days prior to the operation and after it. ER -
