Táto práca skúma, či efekt relatívneho veku (RAE) pretrváva aj vo vyššom dospelom veku a ovplyvňuje finančné očakávania počas pandémie COVID-19. This thesis examines whether the Relative Age Effect (RAE) persists into older adulthood and influences financial expectations during the COVID19 pandemic. Goal: The aim of this thesis is to examine and evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economic outcomes of older adults, with a specific focus on the relative age effect.

Procedures and methods: I will define and explain key terms such as the relative age effect and economic outcomes, drawing from relevant literature and academic sources. I will provide a brief overview of the COVID-19 pandemic period, including lockdown measures, and highlight how these measures may have affected the economic conditions of the elderly. I will use data from the SHARE (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe) database, which includes socioeconomic and health information of individuals aged 50 and older across Europe. I will conduct econometric analyses in R, including regression models and statistical tests, to explore whether the relative age within a birth cohort had any significant association with economic outcomes during the first wave of the pandemic.
