The bachelor thesis aims to compare the various approaches taken by international actors after the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan in 2021. Subsequently, the debate on how to react to this event became largely active. Some actors, especially in the Central Asian region, decided to engage with the Taliban, given the close cultural and religious ties. The other, mainly Western actors, chose to isolate the fundamentalist group until the minority and women's rights were met. This argumentative essay will examine the advantages and disadvantages of engagement with the Taliban.
