Abstract

Největším problémem při klasické paleopatologické …more

Abstract

Tuberculosis, as one of the most feared diseases of a mankind, is gaining interest of physicians once again in recent years, due to the emergence of multidrug-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis resistant to known antibiotics. For this reason researches focused on the study of manifestations of tuberculosis on the skeletal remains of ancient populations are in high demand. The biggest problem …more

Thesis description
Tuberculosis (TBC) is a disease going with the mankind for many thousands of years. Morphological dignostics of the TBC on ancient human skeletal remains may be ambiguous in some cases, then moleculal biology- and biochemistry-based approach is necessary to use for the verification of the diagnosis. In these bachelor thesis will be tested reliability of diagnostic kits for detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium bovis in the subfosil and recent skeletal material from various contexts (anatomical preparates, ossuary and archaeological skeletal remains). Obtained results will throw more light on the reliability of the diagnostics of TBC on ancient skeletal remains and also a contribution to the history of TBC and TBC paleopathology in Moravia.
