Bachelor’s thesis 'Pirate Parties of Europe: Built to Last or Destined to Crumble' is set to explore the inception and expansion of the pirate political movement in Europe, and in doing so, answer questions such as: What caused the sudden interest in establishing Pirate Parties? What is the goal of said Pirate Parties? How do the contemporary Pirate Parties stack up against the competition or what are the limitations of the Pirate Parties? While remaining within the bounds of the genre literature review, this thesis provides commentary on the issues in three logically sound blocks. The first bloc concerns the events leading up to forming the first Pirate Parties, the reasons surrounding the inception of Pirate Parties, an overview of elected Pirate Parties in Europe, and the Pirate Parties Internacional. The second bloc deals with pirate ideology, rhetorics, mechanisms within the parties, relation with the European Union, political program, and long-term strategy. Third and final bloc regards the success and failure of the pirate movement, its longevity, voter support, trends, and overall visage for the future.
