Diplomová práce se zabývá záznamy z biskupského vyšetřování hereze v oblasti Kentu v letech 1511–1512. This thesis will focus on records of Kent episcopal trials of heresy suspects in 1511-1512, generally framed as Lollards, from a structural and relational perspective informed mostly by social network analysis. This interdisciplinary approach, bridging between humanities and the social sciences, and utilising a formalised approach to data analysis, will help to explore these suspects’ social ties, interactions, demography, and beliefs as documented in the records. The thesis will look into the role their characteristics – such as gender, age, or occupation – played in establishing the network of dissident interactions, using statistical models for social networks. Special attention will also be paid to the abjured heretical beliefs and their transmission through the network. Drawing on the previous historiography on Lollardy as well as the religious, social, geographic, and economic context of late medieval and early modern England, the project will allow drawing more systematic conclusions on the roles that specific people and also groups of people with shared characteristics (e.g., identical occupation) played within the microstructure of this Lollard network. It will therefore contribute new findings concerning religion and society in late medieval and early modern England.
