Anotace

Diplomová práce se soustředí na stávky ve veřejném a soukromém sektoru. Stávka představuje zajímavý koncept vyjednávání, který je ovšem relativně málo v zájmu ekonomů, zatímco může mít výrazný dopad jak na obě strany vyjednávacího procesu, tak i na třetí nezaujatou stranu. Abstract

The thesis focuses on strikes in the public and private sectors. Strikes represent an exciting concept of negotiation that is of relatively low interest to economists, while it can have significant impacts on both sides of the process and the third party as well. Thesis focus:
Thesis focuses on strikes in public and private sectors. Strikes represents an interesting concept of negotiation that is relatively low interest to the economists, while it can have significant impacts on both sides of the process. Thesis will describe nature, process, evolution and costs typically associated with strikes. Effects of the strikes on the subsequent situation of employers and employees (represented namely by the effects on wages) will be analyzed in several case studies. After confronting practical experience with available literature the thesis will provide generalizing comments regarding the impacts of strikes.

Goal of the thesis:
Goal of the thesis is to describe strikes in public and private sector and evaluate the impacts and outcomes of strikes in selected case studies from health and education sector.

Thesis concept:
1) Concept of strike, differences in strikes in public and private sector.
2) History an evolution of strikes, selected examples, common effects of strikes, costs associated with strikes.
3) Selected case studies of strikes in health and education sector – analysis of the process, impacts on wages, other outcomes, comparison with the available literature.
4) Generalization of the findings, comments on meaningfulness of strikes.
