The small states under high uncertainty commonly assess the risks and costs of their foreign policy commitment during an international conflict. The dilemma between Western integration and the possibility of Russian backlash has generated the Georgian response to safeguard its political, economic, and security domains. The following research paper studies the Georgian foreign policy behavior during Russia's war in Ukraine by investigating factors behind the Georgian position and its attempts at avoiding allegiance vis-a-vis dispute. The thesis will analyze the main rationale behind Georgia's reaction by adopting a case study approach in evaluating the importance of the strategic hedging strategy and the traditional bandwagoning-balancing distinction often employed to elucidate the actions of small states. The research aims to broaden the existing knowledge about foreign policy decision-making calculus through a small-state perspective.
