Backend patient API for AICope project
Anotace
Abstract
This thesis aims to be a valuable contribution to the University's project "AICope" developed in collaboration with the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute. The main goal of this project is to develop an application designed for patients diagnosed with breast cancer. The main contribution this thesis brings, but is not limited to, the implementation of two essential backend services, namely Patient API …více
Zadání práce
AIcope is a a research collaboration between Faculty of Informatics MU and Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute, aiming at patient empowerment by means of AI. The implementation of the project is based on various modules (information extraction from patient records, knowledge integration, patient similarity computation, etc.), and it consists of multiple interconnected services that need to communicate with each other in a sensitive cloud (Kubernetes) environment. One of the most important issues to resolve in this setup from the user's point of view is a secure implementation of the back-end / front-end services, which is the specific context of this work.
Goals:
- Implement a monolithic or micro-service oriented backend for the patient's UI.
- Backend must be able to communicate and listen to existing services at the same time provide a single interface for UI ideally in GraphQL.
- Thesis will also contain implementation of third party secure authorization and authentication service such as FusionAuth or likewise, which must be included in the final result of the project AICope.
- The implementation of the above will be written up in a bachelor's thesis.
Requirements:
- Keen interest in the topic.
- Ability to read and comprehend software documentation, and ideally also scientific publications in English.
- Basic knowledge of health informatics or medicine is a plus, but certainly not a must - the interest and willingness to learn are the only essential requirements, really.
- While the thesis can be written and defended in Czech, its elaboration and presentation in English will be supported enthusiastically.
- Monthly (or more frequent, if needed) progress review meetings with the supervisor and the broader project team will be expected.
- The student(s) will also be expected to develop and document any related code using the FI MU Gitlab platform (more specifically, a group dedicated to AIcope there), and (if applicable) re-use and interact with other related projects there.
