Táto bakalárska práca sa zaoberá vytvorením nového nástroja na monitorovanie zdrojov v Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Práca najprv popisuje existujúce nástroje slúžiace na monitorovanie zdrojov, a analyzuje ich silné a slabé stránky. Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis aims to create a new open-source application for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) resource monitoring. First, the thesis describes how OCI works and then analyses currently available resource monitoring tools. Based on the challenges users face when using these tools and the gathered user requirements, a new approach in the form of a new application is proposed. The result, OCI Visualization Tool, is a React application running in Docker and released on GitHub.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is a platform of cloud services that enables building and running a wide range of applications in a highly-available, consistently high-performance environment. Capacity planning and management of computation resources inside of cloud environment has quickly become important part of Operations daily routines as engineers and managers responsible for service scale-up, expansion to new region or just introduction of new service need to be aware of currently provisioned resources as well as actual free capacity given to them by cloud provider. There are multiple ways of accessing current data - through OCI Console which is a web-based portal that allows authenticated and authorised users to consume resource utilisation statistics through clean and simple user interface. UI based approach is suitable if operator is looking for a specific piece of information, typically focusing on concrete region, compartment and resource. On the other hand, when need arises to go through aggregated data for all service environments, regions and resource types, UI does not offer enough flexibility to display everything in concise way without additional effort of requestor. Such problem can be solved by using OCI SDK, which allows authenticated and authorised user to receive and process all the available information in programatic way reducing human effort to none while increasing usability. In this work, student will be tasked to create an application, that connects to OCI through SDK, downloads, processes, categorises received data and provide succinct representation through web-based service. The tool should be able to provide breakdown of all resources available showing their actual service limits, usage, availability and quotas. It should be able to filter results by service(compute, storage, database, ...), concrete resource type(standard1-core-count, standard-e3-memory-count, ...), compartment and region. Application should be delivered in a form of source code accompanied by necessary Docker files.
