Diplomová práce se zabývá dvěma knihami, které jsou si velmi blízké. Deník Bridget Jonesové a Pýcha a předsudek jsou knihy odlišné, avšak jsou mezi nimi zřejmé spojitosti, jelikož se autorka Deníku Bridget Jonesové inspirovala právě dějem příběhu Pýchy a předsudku. Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with Bridget Jones’s Diary and Pride and Prejudice, which are books closely connected thanks to the fact that Helen Fielding based her book on the plot of Jane Austen’s novel. This thesis studies both books from the feminist point of view and sums up some critical works that have been written since the books were published. Thesis description
The diploma thesis will study and analysetwo books by two women writers from two different centuries. Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice at the beginning of the 19th century and Helen Fielding wrote Bridget Jones's Diary at the end of the 20th century and she based her plot on the one Austen had already written before. The thesis will analyse the books from the feminist point of view and there will be the comparison of feminism in both books.
