Abstract
Sacharidy jsou nezbytnou součástí buněčného metabolismu. Podílejí se mimo jiné na přenosu signálů, adhezi buněk a v rámci posttranslačních modifikací se váží na aminokyselinové řetězce proteinů. Takto mohou být stejné proteiny rozeznávány různými látkami díky jejich rozdílné glykosylaci. Enzymy katalyzující tyto reakce se nazývají glykosyltransferasy. Carbohydrates as an essential compound of cell metabolism play a crucial role in cell adhesion, signal transfer or take a part in protein posttranslational modifications.
