The thesis "E-learning as a Support Tool for English Teaching to Young Learners" deals with e-learning course used as a support tool for English teaching to young learners at Czech basic schools. The thesis offers a theoretical insight into the complexness of this issue and explains its individual elements. In the scope of this work the content of a foreign language teaching is described and the target group, i.e. the young learners of the fifth grade of basic schools, is introduced and its specific features are defined together with the requirements on their knowledge in area of English. Furthermore the work offers a general characteristic of e-learning and its specific usage as a support tool for English face-to-face classes for young learners is presented. It is also analysed what benefits and drawbacks such a usage of an e-learning course can bring. Consequenty, an e-learning tool suitable for the purposes of this thesis is chosen and characterised and concrete software for a course creation is introduced. Moreover, the rules for an e-learning course creation are defined. It is explained what is advisable to keep in mind when creating a course and what the specific roles of the course facilitator and the learners are in e-learning environment. The theoretical findings are further practically applied and a concrete e-learning course is created to demonstrate the proceedings of the whole creation. The final product is an e-learning English course which can be practically used as a support of face-to-face English classes for young learners.
