The company Notino has complex warehouses with several floors. Tens of thousands of orders containing several products are handled daily in these warehouses. A conveyor belt with boxes passes through each floor of the warehouse. The goods for each order are collected in picking boxes, which are then placed back on the conveyor belt. On each floor, a picking box is either filled with products for designated orders or simply passed to the next floor. The pickers (people) on each floor are assigned several picking boxes and fill them with the required products. Order delays must be minimized, and the workforce, i.e., the use of pickers, needs to be optimized.

The thesis will start with the study of literature on warehouse planning with a focus on order picking problem. The thesis aims to propose and implement appropriate procedures for the picker routing problem, including selecting the picking locations for particular orders, and assigning prepared picking boxes to appropriate picking carts as used by Notino. The implementation of the proposed procedures will be realized with the help of the simulator implemented in the referenced thesis. With the help of this simulator, the work will include experimental evaluation of the implemented procedures on real data supplied by Notino.
